Prekindergarten class sessions are 2 hours and 30 minutes long. This school year, 24 Prekindergarten classes in select schools will offer a full day.
Prekindergarten and Head Start programs are located in 65 elementary schools in Montgomery County. The Maryland State Department of Education MSDE , responsible for early care and education programs throughout the state, has updated its recommended list of early childhood curricula for 3 and 4 year olds for child care, Head Start programs, and nursery schools.
While The Division of Early Childhood revises its future list of Recommended Curricula, programs may continue to use curricula on the current list including those with expired or about to expire dates for the coming year.
Maryland State Department of Education is in the process of developing a comprehensive curriculum for programs for 3 and 4 year olds. The curriculum will be accessed on line at no cost.
